Before this, I rebuilt engines.
I spent 15 years as a diesel mechanic. The last several were on commercial vehicle inspection and training apprentices. I'd get a kid fresh out of school, terrified of the wrench, and inside of a year they'd be diagnosing a transmission fault by sound. That's not because I'm special. That's because the job taught me how to teach: meet the person where they are, find the actual problem, explain the why, and let them earn the win.
I retired in July 2025. I thought I'd take some time off. I lasted about 6 months.
The decision moment.
I sat down to think about what came next. Teaching is something I do naturally. I always figured I might go back and teach the next generation of mechanics in a classroom instead of a shop. But the more I thought about it, the louder the real passion got: fitness and health. So I decided to teach health instead of gears.
It wasn't a midlife pivot. It was a coming-home.
The transformation that confirmed it.
Two people — separately, months apart — sat me down and told me that something I'd said or done years before had completely changed their lives. I had no idea either of those conversations had landed. I went home both times and didn't quite know what to do with the feeling. It was bigger than pride. It felt like the work I was supposed to be doing the whole time.

The unexpected fact about me.
You'd be surprised how much misinformation I know. Years of seeing it firsthand — in the shop, on the gym floor, in supplement ads, in TikTok physiology takes that would make a kinesiologist weep. I keep a running mental list of the stuff the industry repeats that doesn't survive ten minutes of scrutiny. Part of my job is unlearning that with you, gently, before we ever pick up a dumbbell.
What I stand against.
I will never make stuff up for a commission. That means if you ask me about a $90 fat-burner, I'll tell you it doesn't work and that you'd be better off spending the money on chicken. If you ask me about a fad diet, I'll tell you the kernel of truth and the marketing lie wrapped around it. If a "premium" program isn't actually better for you, I'll sell you the cheaper one. The whole industry runs on engineered complexity. I'd rather lose the sale than keep the lie.

Why 40+ and 16+ youth?
Because both groups have been told the problem is them. Both have been quietly written off by an industry that wants veiny abs on a poster. And both respond to the same medicine: a kind, simple, weekly bet they can win. I've watched a 22-year-old who hadn't left their room in three weeks and a 58-year-old executive who couldn't carry groceries up the stairs walk almost identical paths in their first 90 days.
